We learned today that Gideon Aronoff, President and CEO of National HIAS, will be leaving May 31, 2012. Gideon has been a wonderful national President, leading the organization at a time when work with refugees and immigrants has become one of the major humanitarian and civil rights issues of our time. He has guided us, as Jewish organization, to stand with new Americans, with the deep understanding of the contributions of immigrants to our society.

Each year, the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia honors those who have given to the organization for over 25 years with an afternoon celebration. The 2012 event is featuring Sally Mitlas and The Sally Mitlas Orchestra, and Adele and Irwin are hosting with fellow JFGP supporters Betsy & Bob Haren.
