Sushmita Das

Sushmita Das is the Pro Bono Program’s Paralegal at HIAS Pennsylvania.

Sushmita was born in Bangladesh and came to the U.S. when she was a baby. Her parents moved to Atlantic City, where she lived until she moved to Philadelphia in the summer of 2017. Sushmita graduated from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in 2021 with a B.B.A. in Legal Studies and a minor in Management Information Systems. Sushmita first worked with HIAS Pennsylvania in 2020 as a legal intake intern.

As a first-generation member of the South Asian community, Sushmita has seen the challenges marginalized communities face firsthand. She is excited to be back at HIAS PA, an organization that provides quality legal resources to communities like hers. Sushmita looks forward to building a career in public service and using her experiences in business, law, and public policy for the common good.
