Kaitlyn Hepburn

Kaitlyn joined HIAS Pennsylvania in 2023 as a bilingual paralegal with the Immigrant Youth Advocacy Program. In this role, Kaitlyn assists the attorneys in providing legal representation to immigrant youth in removal proceedings. She also provides Know Your Rights presentations and legal screenings to unaccompanied minors in Office of Refugee Resettlement custody and post-release. Before joining HIAS Pennsylvania, Kaitlyn worked as a paralegal in Philadelphia Legal Assistance’s Medical Legal Community Partnership at a Philadelphia Department of Public Health clinic where she focused on the intersection of social determinates of health, public benefits, and immigration. Kaitlyn has also worked and volunteered in ESL education and translation and interpretation. Kaitlyn graduated from American University in 2021 with a double major in International Studies (Regional focus in Latin America) and Spanish Language and Culture, a minor in Public Health, and a certificate of English-Spanish translation. She owes her passion for languages, Latin America, and social justice to community-based study abroad programs such as Pachaysana and The Traveling School.

In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, and spending time with her cats.
