Isabelle Schechter
Isabelle Schechter joined HIAS PA in November 2023 as the Asset Building and Savings Program Coordinator for HIAS PA’s Individual Development Accounts program. Isabelle comes to HIAS PA with two years of experience in refugee resettlement in Philadelphia. In her role, Isabelle helps refugees save money for vehicles, homes, small businesses and education, and learn about U.S. financial systems. Isabelle is passionate about empowering folks by equipping them with tools for wellness, independence, and confidence. Isabelle enjoys learning about life from clients’ perspectives.
Isabelle graduated from the University of Vermont in 2019 with a major in Anthropology and a focus in Global Health. She served as a Public Affairs intern for a national health organization, where she advocated for inclusive community health services. While living in Vermont, Isabelle participated in an initiative to educate doctors about the needs of Syrian patients in the U.S. Isabelle is interested in the ways different cultures, languages, and political systems impact our lives, and how we can use this understanding to strengthen communities.
