Adult ESL for Low-Literacy Immigrants and Refugees
Many refugees and asylum-seekers seek refuge here in the United States without knowing any English. HIAS PA provides hundreds of refugees and immigrants each year learn “Survival ESL.” We ensure that everyone–regardless of their literacy level, has the potential for success.

Legal Services for Survivors of Torture
Through the Philadelphia Partnership for Resilience (PPR), HIAS PA provides legal services to survivors of (typically state-sponsored) torture and their families. HIAS PA works with dozens of individuals annually, helping clients apply for asylum and reunite with family members.
