Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service – 3 locations!

Monday, January 20, 2020, 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.,  HIAS PA will have both service and advocacy activities on January 20, 2020.

SERVICE: 9:30AM-1:30PM (time includes lunch)
We are partnering with two sites: Spruance Elementary and Tarken Rec Center. Both of these sites are in neighborhoods where many of our clients live and both serve as the sites of much of our programming up in Northeast Philadelphia. Your support will help to organize and beautify these spaces to make them even more comfortable for the folks who utilize them, and will give back to these partners who do so much for and alongside us. Food will be served.

ADVOCACY: 10AM-12PM
Join HIAS PA to learn new tools to advocate for Philadelphia’s immigrant communities to your elected officials. The HIAS PA advocacy team will be having a one hour training on the history of race in the US immigration system. We will then use what we’ve learned to write to our elected officials about how they can take action for Immigrants and Refugees in the New Year! This event will take place at HIAS PA’s office at 2100 Arch St. Food will be served.
