Joanna McGill-Gardner is a Staff Attorney at HIAS Pennsylvania. She joined the team in September 2019 through a two-year Skadden Fellowship. Her fellowship project expanded the agency’s T visa representation and work with survivors of human trafficking. Joanna graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers Law School, where she was a Social Justice Scholar, Associate Managing Editor of the Rutgers University Law Review, and Immigrant Justice Fellow. During law school she clerked for both private and public-sector immigration legal service providers, expanding her knowledge of many aspects of the immigration legal system, with particular focus on working with immigrant survivors of crime. Prior to law school, Joanna spent a year of volunteer service in Honduras. She is fluent in Spanish.
