Opening Doors for New Americans since 1882
Since 1882, HIAS Pennsylvania has aided more than 300,000 new Americans, representing more than 100 nationalities, to be integrated into our region and make the United States their permanent home.
Immigration Legal Services are provided to those who seek asylum, family unification, permanent legal status and citizenship.
Our Refugee Resettlement Program works with newly arrived refugees from the moment they step off the airplane until they are self-sufficient. This work includes: finding and furnishing homes, providing comprehensive case-management and social services, and connecting to employment services and English language programs.
The Pennsylvania Asylee Outreach Project provides case management, legal representation and referral services to asylees.
Staff members of HIAS Pennsylvania build capacity to serve immigrants and refugees by training other service providers, through technical assistance to providers such as domestic-violence advocates, non-profit legal-service providers, social workers and many other agencies.
HIAS Pennsylvania engages in education and advocacy to create a just, welcoming and secure environment for immigrants and their families. The agency partners with other organizations to address issues such as access to government services, immigration reform and fair treatment of the foreign-born.
