September 2021 Federal Advocacy Opportunities

There are three important ways to advocate for immigrants this September. Contact your Representative or Senator and tell them to:

1. Ask them to waive the ~$600 per person fees attached to humanitarian parole applications for Afghans and other refugees fleeing war today. Learn more here.
2. Support the LIFT the BAR Act. This will remove cruel, xenophobic, and harmful barriers to federal public benefits for immigrants, and provide critical support programs to all lawfully-present immigrants. It would restore access to federal public benefits for lawfully present immigrants, eliminate the five-year bar on Medicaid, CHIP, SSI, SNAP, and TANF, and remove additional arbitrary barriers.
