From Across the Waters: A Reading by Refugees and their Descendants

In response to the recent atrocity in Pittsburgh, and motivated by the past two years of growing animosity and violence enabled by the current administration, this event brings together diverse voices of artists who either came to the US as refugees themselves or whose identity is shaped by the refugee heritage of their ancestors. We will stand together, echo our enduring words, and celebrate the present-day lives of our communities. In the face of hatred, we find our power as readers and listeners. In the face of oppression, we find strength in the human resilience of love.
