Roger Cheng

Roger Cheng serves as the Community Resettlement Coordinator at HIAS Pennsylvania. In this position, he recruits, empowers, and coaches/mentors volunteer groups to provide comprehensive services in resettling Afghan families.
As an immigrant many years ago, Roger received his BS degree from Drexel University and MS and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University. He worked in academic institutions, first as a faculty member and then in various senior academic administration positions, in the US and Hong Kong. Recently, Roger was personally involved with a volunteer group to resettle Afghan refugees in the Philadelphia area. This experience led him to his current position at HIAS PA. Roger expects to bring his teaching, administrative, and volunteer experience to empower volunteers to work as a team to provide holistic services for Afghan immigrants.
Roger enjoys hiking and running and loves to travel around the world.
