Rebecca Stewart

Rebecca Stewart is HIAS Pennsylvania’s Afghan Project Attorney. She focuses on a wide range of legal support for the newly arrived Afghan population, particularly asylum and Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) claims. Previously, Rebecca worked as a legal officer with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan and as an asylum attorney at Human Rights First. Rebecca started her career at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and focused predominantly on construction litigation. While at Pillsbury she championed firm resources to represent multiple asylum clients as well as other pro bono immigration cases. Originally from Vermont, she is currently based out of San Francisco, California. Rebecca has a BA from Northwestern University and a JD from Washington University in St. Louis – School of Law.
