Casey Schu, JD
Casey Schu is a Legal Advocate on the Immigrant Youth Advocacy Program team at HIAS PA. In her role, she assists young people as they navigate the immigration legal system by working on their applications for asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), work authorization, and other benefits. Casey received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and International Relations from La Salle University in 2017 and graduated with her Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School in 2022.
Casey is passionate about language access, and her article “Interpreting Justicia Para Todes: The Need for a Bilingual Justice System in the United States” was published in the Rutgers University Law Review in 2022. When she is not working, Casey enjoys reading, traveling, studying other languages, and listening to Bad Bunny.
