Beverly A. Black, Esq.

Beverly A. Black graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1979 with majors in Spanish and History. She spent her junior year abroad in Costa Rica. Beverly has focused on immigration issues since 1986 when she obtained her paralegal certificate from Villanova University and began working for Catholic Social Services as an immigration accredited representative. She continued to work as an immigration paralegal for Orlow, Steel, Rubin and Rudnick (later Steel, Rudnick and Ruben) and Krusen, Evans & Byrne while she attended Temple Law School. Beverly graduated from Temple Law School in 1992, passed the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars in the fall of 1992 and opened her own law office in Northeast Philadelphia focusing on immigration matters in September 1993. She continued to handle primarily immigration cases for the next twenty-eight years.
Beverly joined HIAS Pennsylvania as a staff attorney for the Complex Litigation and Humanitarian Relief team in November 2021. She is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Portuguese having lived in Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Chile in her youth.
