Employment & Education Services

Through a unique public/private partnership, HIAS Pennsylvania is able to offer an alternative to public assistance and promote early employment. This program is able to provide financial assistance and housing assistance to employable refugees for four months by matching community support to Federal funds from the Office of Refugee Resettlement. HIAS Pennsylvania makes the match through volunteer hours, in-kind donations or cash support, which are all vital to supporting refugee families as they transition to becoming self-sufficient.

One benefit of this program is the organization’s ability to offer employment incentives or educational opportunities. Once a refugee becomes employed, for instance, HIAS Pennsylvania can continue to provide cash assistance for up to four months and can offer monetary incentives or gift cards for job retention.

The services provided  include:

  • Vocational English classes
  • Transportation assistance
  • Job placement and preparation
  • Case management

HIAS Pennsylvania is always looking for new employment and educational opportunities for its refugee clients.  If you would like to partner with us, please contact Gin Sum at gsum@hiaspa.org
