Gerardo Castillo Jimenz was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico. He and his family moved to the United States in 2002, when he was 13 years old. In 2012, he became eligible to apply for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Gerardo received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2013, and his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Kutztown University in 2015. He worked at KidsPeace with unaccompanied minors as a Youth Care Worker and Case Manager for two years. Gerardo joined HIAS PA as a Know Your Rights Specialist in late 2015 and now coordinates the Latino Outreach and Immigration Services Initiative.
