DESCRIPTION:Join us for our New Volunteer Information Session on Tuesday\, October 6th\, at 5:30 PM. \n\nInformation sessions include an introduction to our organization and ways to get involved. All prospective volunteers must attend an information session before starting to volunteer with HIAS PA.  \n\n\nFor more information about volunteering\, click here. Please note: We have paused accepting new pro bono attorney applications.\n\n\n  \nTo sign up for an information session\, apply through our volunteer portal. There\, you will be prompted to register for the upcoming information session. DESCRIPTION:About the Event\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				HIAS Pennsylvania’s Tikkun Olam (Hebrew for “repairing the world”) Awards honor our extraordinary volunteers for their important work supporting local immigrants. \nThe event will be held in person at 123 South Broad Street\, Philadelphia\, PA on Tuesday\, October 13th\, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Adele‘s mother was only 15 years old when she was helped by HIAS\, Inc. in New York after arriving from Poland. Their aid to her mother made such a profound impression that Adele chose to share her gifts with HIAS Pennsylvania in service of immigrants and immigrant justice. \nThe Adele Lipton Award is given to the person who best exemplifies her extraordinary commitment to education\, social justice\, community service and tikkun olam – repairing the world. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Honored for Exceptional Pro Bono Legal Services\n\nDawn Burns\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				for providing pro bono legal representation to refugees and immigrant youth \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Honored for Extraordinary Interpretation Services\n\nJonathan Gaev\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				for sharing his Spanish language skills to support pro bono attorneys and accompany clients \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Honored for Outstanding dedication to the local immigrant community\n\nCHOP Refugee Child Health Program\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				for providing free medical screening and care for recently arrived refugees
