Opening Doors for New Americans since 1882
Thanks to a grant from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services program, HIAS Pennsylvania leads the Philadelphia Citizenship Action Network (P-CAN) in conjunction with other area non-profits committed to providing educational services to immigrants and refugees who want to become citizens.
P-CAN serves to provide:
Information sessions to all immigrants and refugees interested in becoming citizens. At the information session, participants will be screened for eligibilty for both Citizensip classes as well as the naturalization application assistance via language and legal screenings.
Citizenship Instruction Classes to be held at different sites in Philadelphia. Each course lasts for 8 weeks (except for a specialized 20 week class for seniors). In this class clients will review the content of the citizenship test, learn about the process of applying to citizenship, recieve low-cost guide books and tutorials and be given additional resources and study materials. Students will take a pre and post test to see how much they learned over the course of the class.
Free or Reduced application assistance will be given to clients who qualify to apply for citizenship.
