ESL teacher for incoming refugees

This program is not currently accepting applications. If interested in ESL teaching, please consider teaching ESL to citizenship applicants or helping in our after-school or summer programs for youth.

Program: Refugee Resettlement 

Minimum Time Requirements: 3 consistent, continuous hours per week (1 hour prep, 2 hours in class), three (3) months per year.

Brief Description: Teach ESL to incoming refugees. Volunteers with consistent daytime availability can support existing classes offered at our main offices. Additional opportunities are available for volunteers to provide ESL tutoring for either refugee youth or adults in community based settings close to where the refugee resides (South or Northeast Philadelphia). These community based tutoring opportunities have greater flexibility with regards to time and day of the week.

Will travel be required? Yes, if needed for off-site classes.

Are there language needs? No.

Minimum educational/degree requirements: TESOL Certification

Will training be provided? Yes, you are required to attend a Refugee Team Volunteer Orientation.

All volunteers must have PA Criminal Record, Child Abuse Clearances, and FBI Criminal Background checks completed before starting ($28 total).
