General Position Description
HIAS Pennsylvania seeks a dynamic, experienced and flexible social worker to support compassionate and efficient social services for a variety of vulnerable immigrants, through a combination of direct case management and supervision of staff and social work interns.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Refugee Case Manager (40%)
The overall goal of the Refugee Resettlement and Placement (R&P) program is to help refugee families become self-sufficient in their new communities by providing basic needs and a core group of services for their first 3 months in the US. The Refugee Case Manager provides direct case management for newly arrived refugees, assisting with their needs for housing, medical care, education, financial literacy, and cultural orientation in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner. Refugee resettlement is conducted in compliance with a contract with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, so timeliness, attention to detail and diligence in service delivery and case-noting are critical.
Supervision and Service Coordination (40%)
Organizational Requirements (20%):
HIAS PA is a fast˗paced environment with some traffic in the office and a moderate amount of noise. The office functions as a team with a high degree of collegiality. HIAS PA provides health care, life insurance and disability benefits after a probationary period.
