Dear Friends:
Seven years ago we were honored when Ruth Messinger, head of Jewish World Service, gave our keynote address at the HIAS Pennsylvania annual luncheon. She spoke about ethnic cleansing in Dafur, an area of Sudan. Most of us were puzzled; we were unaware of the situation. Today, it would be difficult to find someone in the Jewish or faith community who is not aware of Dafur. And as 2012 approaches, HIAS Pennsylvania will be resettling Dafurian refugees referred to us by our colleagues at national HIAS....
