Opening Doors for New Americans since 1882
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
Email Sarah Kaeppel for more information about how you can help.

HIAS PA and NSC will provide training on basic asylum law as applied in the U.S. This is a complex yet important area of law, offering the opportunity to represent and assist those seeking humanitarian protection from persecution in their home countries. Areas to be covered include the definition of asylum, qualification criteria and the standards of proof that apply to these forms of relief. We will also touch on asylum claims based on membership in a particular social group which in many ways offers opportunities to expand the law. The training will equip participants to handle asylum cases pro bono.
The impact of winning these cases is life-changing, both for the respondent and for pro bono counsel. HIAS Pennsylvania and NSC also provide on-going mentoring to those who are willing to give of their time.
Attorneys will receive 4 free substantive CLE credits if they accept a VIP, HIAS Pennsylvania or NSC case within 6 months of the training. To register, please visit http://www.phillyvip.org/content/training-registration-form or contact Christina Rodriguez at crodriguez@phillyvip.org.

Join our friends at PICC this Thursday, October 22nd for an evening of food and music, celebrating their past successes and looking ahead to their future goals. This year, PICC will celebrate and honor two true champions: Helen Cunningham and Jorge Perez-Rico.
Traveling very different paths, these two honorees have one thing in common: they improved the lives of those around them and worked to empower immigrant communities across Pennsylvania. We, along with PICC, are forever grateful to Helen and Jorge, and to all of those individuals who work for immigrant rights.
Don't miss your chance to honor these two amazing people. Get your tickets today!
