Opening Doors for New Americans since 1882
This event will be filmed and broadcast. Please arrive no later than 9:30 in order to ensure a prompt start.
Children from Central America are fleeing their countries for reasons that include gang and domestic violence, severe poverty, lack of governmental protections, and long time separation from family members (some in temporary lawful immigration status in the U.S.).
A growing number of these unaccompanied minors are being relocated in the Philadelphia region. As such, this humanitarian crisis presents important challenges that require understanding of the unique needs and issues facing these children. This forum will provide an opportunity to learn from experts with first-hand experience in this issue and will outline the various ways in which we can collectively act to provide relief.
