Opening Doors for New Americans since 1882
Fernanda Marroquin is a 22 year old woman living in Philadelphia and becoming increasingly aware of the struggles she is facing because of her inability to get legal permanent residency. Now acting as one of the leaders in the DREAM Activist community, fighting to get people like her, who have lived in the states all their lives and are in good standing, to get access to public higher education and and eventual path to citizenship. On Saturday, May 5, the Bryn Mawr Film Institute will be screening the 20 minute film of her story, "Out of the Shadows," written and produced by 10 students in Villanova University's Center for Social Justice Film. The screening will be free and open to the public, with doors opening half an hour before the film.
