Opening Doors for New Americans since 1882

Ester Tuzman is the mother of one of our long time Board members and her Holocaust Education Fund made this event possible.
The Genocidal Mind
Dr. Robert Jay Lifton, world-renowned psychiatrist and Holocaust scholar, will deliver the keynote lecture, “The Genocidal Mind,” followed by breakout sessions on various Holocaust-related topics and survivor testimonies.
Dr. Lifton will discuss his major research studies and their bearing on the genocidal mentality: Nazi doctors and the reversal of their roles from healers into torturers and murderers; Chinese thought reform and its effort to control identity and belief; the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and its relationship to unlimited technological killing; and the Vietnam War and its creation of “atrocity producing situations” in which ordinary people could become capable of atrocity. Dr. Lifton will also discuss psychological and historical currents that can combat the genocidal mentality and offer alternative directions.
Feel free to forward the links or downloaded copies of the pdf to friends and colleagues.
All participants attend the keynote lecture in the auditorium, followed by a number of Seminar II and III choices. Participants must complete and return the registration form with Seminar II and III selections.
