Emma Compton is a 2014 graduate of Wesleyan University, where she studied Sociology and Spanish. Before joining HIAS Pennsylvania, Emma spent two and half years working for an education non-profit in the Dominican Republic. There, Emma worked as Program Manager, overseeing the organization’s Service-Learning, Community Outreach, and University Scholarship programs. While in the Dominican Republic, Emma worked with Haitian migrants and Dominicans of Haitian descent, heading the organization’s documentation and advocacy work. At HIAS, Emma works as the Immigrant Crime Victim Advocate, supporting the legal and immigration needs of immigrant victims of crime in Philadelphia.
